August in June garden bloggers' bloom day

The coleus I planted in this cool planter was ripped out by squirrels  within hours.
Today is this year's 11th day of triple-digit heat. Mid-June! And of course, Austin's still in an exceptional drought. I think the term "exceptional" is a little too cute for what is the most severe level of the drought o'meter, but no one asked me. Please visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens to see other garden bloggers' blooms in more moderate climates!
My new favorite, bog sage. Thanks getting grounded
trailing verbena with a tiny bit of santolina (bottom right)
more trailing verbena
white gaura with a tiny dot of blue leadwort plumbago
I don't care if plumbago is overused; it's a tough cool-colored winner.
White bougainvillea seems to love all this sun and heat. I do have to water it every other day.
Also blooming now (barely) are salvias, marigolds, zinnias, blackfoot daisies, lobelia, Turks' cap, and torenia

Angry squirrels! And what was that other plant they ripped from the ground just one day after you planted it?

Glad to see you gave the Turk's cap honorable mention...I'm a big fan.

Kurt--The other plant ripped out by angry squirrels was a little tree fern from East Side Patch. Sigh.

I, too, like Plumbago. You haven't been writing as much lately. I've missed you.

Nellie--I have been lazy, I know. I'm trying to get more motivated, but it's hard in this heat. Thanks so much for the nice comment!

Caroline--I'll give you some of my bog sage when it's big enough. I'm giving it a little drink of water every morning because I'm so crazy about its little pale blue blooms!

You can never have too much Plumbago if you are capable if getting it to bloom, as you are! How I wish I could get those cool lavender blooms here. I'm happy that the bog sage is doing so well, how's the Ruby Crystals grass?

getgrounded--If it makes you feel any better, that big plumbago is at least eight years old and is one of the few things in the full-sun front yard that I care enough about to give a little water.

The Ruby Crystals grasses are finally perking up and getting a little taller. I care about them and your bog sage, too!

Bog sage? Now that conjures up a damp and muddy place. Hard to imagine such a place in Austin at the moment. 11 days you say, and more to come. Many more, I suspect. I know what you mean about plumbago. I love the pretty blue flowers and they keep on coming.

Lancashire rose--Yes, bog sage does seem like an unlikely name for what appears to be a fairly sun-loving, drought-tolerant plant!

I could have used the same title for my Bloom Day post. Thanks for stopping by my site.

I have planted the Blue Plumbago for the first time after I re-designed my entire front yard last year.
It didn't mount to too much last year and I was afraid it maybe is in too much sun. Now this year and even under the unusual high temperatures we already are dealing with right now and the plant being in full hot TX sun for most of the day, my Plumbago is just awesome blooming, growing and spreading.
I love it and I'm really glad I planted it.
Best Wishes

Oh, it all looks great! I think the pot is just darling even without the coleus. Hope the squirrel enjoyed it!

Thanks, Linda! I love that pot, too. Found it at Next-to-New. Yesterday another psycho squirrel ripped out my cute Black Pearl pepper. Argh.
