The horror!
Husband Kurt just captured this photo of these rather gorgeous tiny alien creatures exploring a bicolor iris bud.

Knock them into a bucket of soapy water fast, Iris - they sure look like nymphs of the Leaf-footed Stink Bug to me.... and they're plotting to spoil your tomatoes.

[or you could try putting the soapy water into the shop vac bucket and sucking them up to fall in the water - haven't tried that one, just read about it.]
Oh Annie!
Thank you! I'm pooped now but will knock them into soapy water tomorrow morning for sure.
The tomatoes are in the back yard, many yards away, but now I know to have the eagle-eye out for them, too!
Isn't it weird how such a dramatic looking bug--some might say "pretty"--is so destructive?? Ah, Nature...
I heard Trish Shirey say that she uses a dustbuster to suck up harlequin bugs. It may work for these little nymphs too. I had a new crop of them this morning. Clearly I am not winning the war.
