Signage preferences?

I really don’t know what to make of this. Both these cicada shells appeared overnight. There are no others in sight.

Do they prefer these color combinations to the lighter, brighter colors I used for the other veggie markers? Or maybe they like or dislike beets and broccoli over lettuces and kale?

It seems I am way behind on my seed planting. I'm still trying to revive my tomatoes!

I'm still nursing my last tomatoes, too! And no, I don't think you're necessarily behind.

I'm trying the planting schedule posted on Vertie's blog, which is organic farmer Tim Miller's & relies on moon cycles. (Links on my previous post.) I've never tried it before and went ahead & stuck the seeds in the ground outside, not nursing them into seedlings inside first.

So, I may be really gambling, but I know that I can still buy some little lettuces from the nursery and plant those in October or November if this experiment fails...

I don't think they have a color preference, I think the nymphs crawl up the closest thing to their burrows. It is interesting, though! I used to love those weird critters when I was growing up. So creepy crawly and so cool at the same time.

Very interesting about the cicadas. How are the seeds growing?

Vertie,

They're popping up, especially the Mesclun and kale. They're all tiny, about 1/2" at the most.
