bougainvillea
Unfortunately, very little has changed since last month's bloom day except that it's even hotter and drier. If I'm counting right, today will be Austin's 61st day of triple-digit heat. Sigh. Be sure to check out other garden bloggers' blooms at Carol's May Dream Gardens.

I couldn't stand to leave this cute planter empty any longer, so I found this dwarf gomphrena and put enough rocks on top to keep the squirrels from digging it out.
Also occasionally blooming this month are white gaura, plumbago, prairie verbena, trailing lantana, pavonia, blue daze, and blackfoot daisy.

Love your Bougainvillea -- I can't keep mine alive for more than a few months! I like your squirrel-proof planter. If I could just figure out how to keep the squirrels from digging up my passalong ginger! Happy GBBD.
That anything is blooming is a miracle. Surely things will get cooler soon.
I love the white Bougainvillea. So pretty. And the little planter is so cute!!! I was just photographing the leadwort plumbago yesterday- funny. It is a brilliant blue I think. Really like it.
We may be in the middle of the worst drought in the hottest summer but you still manage to have the flowers that bloom follow your color directives, Iris! Sounds like a win to me ;-)

Caroline--This is the first time I've had more than a coupla months' success with a Bougainvillea, too!
Lancashire rose--I hope you're right.
kacky--Can't resist that leadwort blue either!
Annie in Austin--Thanks! I definitely water my favorite colored blooms more regularly than others if I have to make a choice.
