Don't want to get my hopes up, but one of my Little Porter tomato plants finally has two flowers!

Whoo-hoo! Maybe the fish emulsion stuff I added a few days ago did the trick. I'm going to feed them more of it tonight.

That fish emulsion can sure do the trick. Good luck with your tomato plant. Don't be disappointed if they don't set fruit at the moment. They usually quit when the night time temperatures go over 70 and you know that is happening. However if you hang in it will start producing for a fall crop. I am about to cut back my tomatoes as they are just about finished for this time around. They should come back to life and start producing again in the fall. i am also starting new plants from seed for the same purpose. I also took a cutting and am rooting it in water for the first time. I read this in an English garden mag. It already has 2 roots in a week.

Thanks for all the great info! How long do you think I should wait before I give up and cut them back in hopes of a fall crop? And how much do I cut them back?

If they have not fruited yet this year they may not need cutting back. Only cut them back if they are huge or are looking bad. Also determinate or indeterminate is important. I have Romas and Celebrity this year and I did buy a Juliet. Check to see which your plant is. If you decide to cut them back cut about 1/2 off or to really nice growth. Your plant looked really healthy so you may not have to do anything with it. Good luck

Thanks again, Jenny. I have two Little Porters and one Juliet, and they all look healthy to me right now, just not setting fruit. So maybe I'll just cut them back by around half in a little while.
