garden bloggers' bloom day

Silverado sage, Mealycup Sage (Salvia farinacea 'Victoria Blue'), silver ponyfoot and blackfoot daisies, Mexican Bush Sage (Salvia leucantha)

The weather here has been beautiful lately. Two months ago, I couldn't have imagined we'd finally get moderate temperatures and enough rain again to bring our front yard garden back to life. And positively lush, too! Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Gardens for hosting bloom day on the 15th of every month.

phlox

Forsythia Sage (salvia madrensis) from Renee at Renee's Roots

paperwhite narcissus blooming two months early

miniature rose 'Red Cascade'

ornamental pepper 'black pearl'

Persian shield and pineapple coleus: I know they're not blooms, but the colors and combination are so cool, I had to include them.

loropetalum and plumbago

Also blooming today are indigo spires salvia, Mexican heather, Turk's cap, lantana, marigolds, pansies, rosemary, ruellia, and black dalea.

Iris, nice lush cottage gardens you have there. All the layering of shades of purple are really fun to see; you give me new combination ideas. Hooray for fall, right?

I love your color combinations! And as always, everything is so nice & tidy. Good grief on narcissus, though. Wow!

getgrounded--Thanks! Yes, hooray for fall! Supposed to get a fair amount cooler and some rain tonight, too!

Linda--You're too kind--thanks! Totally weird paperwhites. They're taller than ever before, too.

You have some great colors in your garden! I love all the colors in your first photo. :)

Renee just passed along one of those Salvia madrensis to me, too. I'm so excited by your photo of pale yellow flowers. I love that color. My garden used to mostly blues and purples but this year, I've ended up buying a lot of replacement plants which turned out to have yellow flowers.

I also grow 'Red Cascade' and this last month is the first time it's looked really happy and put out a lot of flowers and new growth. Has yours been vigorous all along or has it just exploded with flowers this year?

Amy--Thanks! I experimented for awhile to get the combo in the first photo and like it for now.

mss--That Salvia madrensis is one of the only yellows I've really liked because it's pale and more green-yellow instead of the usual HOT bright yellow and orange-yellows. I really like it!

My 'Red Cascade' has been a real trooper for almost seven years, faithfully blooming in the spring, sometimes early summer, and occasionally fall. But yes, I think this has been its showiest year. Mine's in full sun.

Just beautiful, Iris! Your garden is such an inspiration to me. Love the color combinations, too. I can't wait to start working on the part of my yard that gets full sun. Someday!

zoomletta--Thank you! It does seem like we have more choices of plants that do well in full sun here.
