I know I’m not alone in my frustration with squirrels’ incessant digging lately. Today I got some help from our (adopted former-feral) cat:

My gosh! Did he eat the squirrel? Is that a tail sticking out of his mouth? We used to have feral cats but I haven't seen them for ages. I think that either the coyotes or the foxes must have killed them.
Oh no!! She never actually CATCHES the squirrels, she just stalks them and chases them around allot. (What might look like a tail in that last photo is just her own lighter colored fur--blurry photo.)
We adopted her when she was a few months old, so she's been quite domesticated for years and stays inside as often as outside. Strangely, she and the dog--Huskies are notorious for treating cats as prey--get along very well.
I love it that she chases them off! Perhaps your bulbs will stay planted with her help. She's quite a cutey.
Thanks! The combination of moving new potted items inside the dog-fenced area and the cat patrolling the area has really reduced the squirrel's digging in areas I care about.
